Outstanding Outdoor Early Years Experiences

Stay and Play at St Ambrose

Tuesdays 9.15-11.15am

Stay and play has started again after the Christmas break, if you have a child aged between 0 and 3 years old then please come along and join us at our Stay and Play session, it runs every Tuesday during term time.

Indoor Provision

We have invested heavily in our indoor environments during 2016. This has included support from external consultants and a huge spend on furniture, flooring and resources to ensure that our children are accessing the very best play equipment to ensure that they achieve the best outcomes.

Below are images of some of our indoor spaces:

Our amazing Growing In Faith Together Garden was completed at the end of September 2016 and we worked closely with the children over the Autumn term on how to use the area.

We have used an outdoor play consultant, Charlotte Derry, to develop our risk assessments and appropriate use of the area by all users.

All children had sessions with Charlotte, their teachers and teaching assistants before they were able to access the area as part of their everyday provision.

Below are some images of our fabulous GIFT garden:

It was amazing to see so many of our parents in school to explore our new outdoor space.

If any parents have any more questions about the daily grounds checks we will be carrying out, the risk benefit assessments that have been done or the children's 'training' sessions then please ask to speak to me, Mrs Fagan or drop me an email:

Here are some photos from the session of parents enjoying exploring the space with their children...

We have invested in a new observation and assessment tool this academic year, it is the Early Excellence Tracker and it has been developed by many leading experts in Early Years. It is similar to our old system 'Orbit', however it does so much more, including allowing us to upload video footage of your child.

As an Early Years department we have had training on how to use the system, which became live on 12th September, over the Autumn half term other aspects of the system came on line. Staff are now using the EExAT system as part of their everyday practice and we are excited to announce that the parent area is live.

We will be holding a parent workshop during the beginning of 2017 to introduce parents to the newly launched parent area. During this workshop staff will walk you through EExAT, how they use it and how you can contribute to your child's learning journey at St Ambrose.
